Garbage Fee Exemption

You may qualify for an exemption from the $17.00 per month garbage fee charged on your CPWS bill if any of the following apply:

• You are 65 years old by December 31 of the previous year.
• You are completely and permanently disabled.
• Your total household income is at or below the City's limit of $31,600 for the prior year.

To apply for the exemption, new applicants must provide the following documents:

1. The most recent CPWS bill.
2. Your Medicare and/or Social Security card.
3. Proof of income for all residents living at the address (Income limits may vary each year).

2. Print, complete, and return the form to the City Recorder’s Office at City Hall, 700 North Garden Street, Columbia, TN 38401.
